What We Offer

Metis, the Greek goddess of wisdom is our brand of ketamine. We come to you on three consecutive days to give intramuscular (shot)  injections in the safety and comfort of your own home. Dr. Sheila initiates and guides the whole process but believes that it is the combined relationship between medicine, physician, and client that creates a matrix in which healing occurs.

From the first visit online to the in-home administrations of Metis, to the longer-term follow-up, authenticity and integrity will enfold the process. We appreciate suggestions and new methods to help us offer the best possible care. In the end, all of this makes Sheila Rising unique and offers one the best chance for an improved quality of life.

There's no accident that you're reading this and there's no accident that what you've suffered has had a profound effect on your life. There's been a purpose to it, and we are here to offer help.

Our Founder’s Story

Sheila Grace Newsom, M.D., is a physician, published author, public speaker, successful entrepreneur, recovering alcoholic, and lifelong student. Her diverse background provides the foundation to a deep calling to help people find joy using the tools they already possess. With a military background, including graduation from West Point and service as an Airborne Ranger, she spent 22 years in private practice focusing on nephrology and critical care. Undergoing treatment for alcohol addiction brought her face-to-face with the fragility of life, her own and others. Sober for over twenty-eight years, she retired from medical practice in 2011 and did philanthropic work in Uganda. In 2018 she legally changed her name from Gary Don to Sheila Grace. That same year she authored A Calling from the Bones, a book enfolding a series of vignettes about her life narrative. She is just completing an M.A. in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. Her creative endeavors also include serving as executive producer of Vultures of Tibet, and Iron Orchard, a feature-length film. Sheila has also done transgender-focused medical work as a volunteer at Kind Clinic, served on the board of the Austin Film Society, and in a variety of positions within the West Point Association of Graduates.

We Make Lives Better.
By offering a caring, creative matrix from which the therapies are offered. We see Metis and all other medicinals as an aspect of care. Our most important offerings are compassion, experience and presence.
